Next-generation telecom infrastructure
Engineering Infrastructure of the Data Centre
Telecommunications
A leading player in the Ukrainian telecommunications market, rapidly expanding its IT capabilities and modernising its digital infrastructure. Increased data processing volumes and higher requirements for stable server equipment operation made the modernisation of cooling systems critically necessary.
A distinctive feature of the project was the geographical dispersion of facilities — more than 10 sites located in different regions of Ukraine: from Lviv to Odessa, from Uzhhorod to Khmelnytskyi. At the same time, the key challenge was that all work had to be carried out without affecting the operation of the servers — without shutdowns, delays or the risk of data loss during modernisation. This required the team of engineers to design with maximum precision and carry out the work with the utmost care. Such conditions required a high level of team coordination, flexible installation schedules, and agreed implementation standards.
- Ensure reliable and effective cooling of server rooms to maintain stable network operation.
- Increase cooling capacity to expand Kyivstar’s technological capabilities.
- Find and implement energy-efficient solutions that will reduce operating costs.
-
Selected technologies:
Modern chillers and air conditioning systems from Schneider Electric.
Automated temperature control to optimise energy consumption.
Integration with existing monitoring systems for remote control of cooling status. -
Why these solutions?
High energy efficiency with 20% cost optimisation.
Long-term reliability with a service life of 15+ years.
Scalability with the system ready for further expansion of server capacity. -
Main stages of implementation:
1. Development of a design solution
2. Planning of works and coordination of the schedule with all parties
3. Ordering and delivery of equipment to the site
4. Dismantling of obsolete systems
5. Installation and commissioning, testing of new solutions
6. Transfer to operation and training of personnel
Optimisation of
energy consumption
Cooling costs reduced by 20%.
Automated
control
Real-time monitoring and management of climate parameters.
Possibility
of expansion
The upgraded system allows for increased technological capacity without the need to upgrade the cooling system in the coming years.
“This project is a strategic step towards improving the reliability of Kyivstar’s network infrastructure. The modernised cooling systems guarantee the uninterrupted operation of server sites and create a solid foundation for the implementation of the latest technologies.”
