Public Sector
Project duration:
15 days
Background and Objectives

The quality of simultaneous interpretation directly affects participant comfort and communication efficiency during international meetings, negotiations, and conferences. Therefore, the technical system should ensure not only high-quality speech transmission but also reliable operation in various event formats.

Compass Engineering implemented a project to deploy a Bosch wireless simultaneous interpretation system for one of the government press centers.

The team faced several key objectives: to ensure reliable transmission of interpretation, increase participant mobility, integrate the new equipment with the existing audiovisual infrastructure, and make the system suitable for different usage scenarios.

Prior to the project, simultaneous interpretation relied on the wired infrastructure. This format limited participants’ freedom of movement and required more attention to space management during events.

At the same time, the press center already had cutting-edge conference equipment, so the new solution had to be integrated with the existing system without significant infrastructure modifications.

Versatility was another key requirement. Press conferences, international negotiations, round tables, or other official events can involve different number of participants and require individual operating scenarios. The system should adapt rapidly to such changes without complex reconfiguration.

Solution

The project was based on the Bosch wireless simultaneous interpretation system featuring infrared audio transmission.

The solution ensures:

The use of infrared technology also allows transmitting audio signals within a defined coverage area, which is especially important for events with increased requirements for communication confidentiality.

The project was completed in 15 days, from defining the technical requirements to final configuration and staff training.

1. Needs analysis

At the first stage, the team determined the primary system usage scenarios, the number of users, coverage requirements, and the particularities of the existing audiovisual infrastructure.

2. Equipment supply

The team selected, supplied, and tested equipment in accordance with the approved technical requirements.

3. Installation and integration

Compass Engineering specialists installed the required system components: transmitters, receivers, and infrared radiators, as well as integrated them with the existing conference equipment.

4. Configuration and testing

Following installation, the team verified the audio transmission quality, the operation of all components, and system stability in diverse usage scenarios. Particular attention was paid to the coverage area and potential sources of interference.

5. Staff training

After configuration was completed, personnel received instructions on preparing the system for events, configuring it, and using it on a daily basis.

Implementation Results
The implemented system allowed the customer to:

Eliminate some wired connections and make event organization more flexible and mobile

Use a single solution for different formats of international events

Integrate the simultaneous interpretation system with the existing audiovisual infrastructure

Simplify equipment preparation for events

Ensure reliable transmission of interpreters’ speech to participants

Create the option to scale the system when needed

Further Development

The solution architecture can adapt the system to different number of participants and event formats. In the future, its functionality can be expanded according to the press center’s needs and the development of its audiovisual infrastructure.

Conclusions

Technology became an integral part of the communication process in this project. The shift to thewireless format removed some of the technical limitations and made the space more flexible, eliminating the need to reconfigure it for each individual event.
