Uncontrolled fuel usage created risks of abuse for a large agricultural enterprise and resulted in financial losses. The lack of automated fuel accounting made it impossible to promptly verify actual fuel dispensing volumes, compare data, and identify discrepancies in a timely manner.
Compass Engineering faced a challenge of developing a system that would combine video surveillance, sensors, and analytics into a single tool for controlling fuel dispensing operations.
As part of the project, the engineers deployed the required infrastructure and integrated several technological components:
- Video surveillance and video analytics system
- Gearcon fuel sensors
- Weight monitoring sensors
- Data processing tools
- Centralized data collection and analysis in Vezha
The system automatically records each fuel dispensing event, determines the amount of fuel dispensed, and transfers the data to Vezha for further analysis.
The project began with the facility assessment, analysis of existing processes, and approval of thefuture solution concept. The initial option involved more expensive equipment. However, Compass Engineering specialists selected functionally equivalent alternatives that met both the technical requirements and the customer’s budget.
- Analysis of business processes and approval of the technical concept
- Equipment selection and testing
- Installation and configuration of video surveillance cameras
- Installation of Gearcon fuel sensors and weight monitoring sensors
- Integration of system components and implementation of centralized data collection in Vezha
- Final testing and commissioning of the system
Reduce fuel consumption by 8.6%
Automate fuel dispensing event recording and fuel accounting
Collect and analyze data within a single Vezha environment
Reduce reliance on manual control
Minimize the risks of abuse
Establish a foundation for deploying the system at other enterprise facilities
The solution has the potential to be scaled to other sites of the agricultural enterprise. While no further integration with corporate information systems is currently planned, the project experience has already attracted interest from other enterprises considering the automation of fuel dispensing control.
