Implementation of a Comprehensive Project for a New Business Center in Podil by Compass Engineering in 16 Months
The Compass Engineering team has implemented a full range of engineering infrastructure as well as played a key role in the project development and construction of a new business center in Podil, covering the whole work cycle: from the concept development and design to commissioning of all the building’s critical systems.
The today’s modern business center means much more than just architecture, design, or location. It is the engineering infrastructure and technology that define the level of comfort, safety, energy efficiency, and seamless business operations. This is especially referred to new-generation facilities where all systems should function as a single body, ensuring process sustainability and readiness to meet current challenges.
The Podil business center has become one of the most comprehensive projects for the Compass Engineering team over the past few years. It took only 16 months from the start of construction to the facility’s commissioning – an extremely tight deadline for the commercial property with an area of over 14,000 m². In the context of constant changes, high reliability requirements, and the need for the synchronized integration of a large number of engineering systems, this case illustrates how a systematic engineering approach allows implementing large-scale projects even under challenging conditions and within extremely strict deadlines.
As part of the project, the Compass Engineering team implemented a set of interrelated engineering solutions, including a power distribution system, a structured cabling system, network and communications infrastructure, a data center, automation and control systems, security and access control systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, as well as state-of-the-art audiovisual systems and the shelter’s technological infrastructure.
The primary task was not just to introduce separate engineering systems but to create a single digital environment with all the technologies functioning as a cohesive, managed infrastructure. It is this approach that provides a foundation for cutting-edge smart buildingsolutions determining the building’s efficiency not by the amount of equipment but by the level of integration and interaction among all systems.
Special attention was paid to the reliability of the power architecture, the uninterrupted operation of critical systems, and the facility’s readiness to meet current operational challenges. The Compass Engineering team created a large-scale power supply and engineering control system, as well as integrated solutions for the IT environment, climate control, centralized monitoring, and building automation.
The project involved solutions by leading international and Ukrainian technology manufacturers, including Schneider Electric, Cisco, Panduit, Simon, Daikin, Ledvance, OBO Bettermann, Quantula, and other partners whose technologies became a part of the business center’s unified engineering ecosystem.
One of the key project elements was the automation and control system ensuring centralized management of the building’s entire engineering infrastructure. It allows monitoring energy consumption, responding promptly to changes in system operations, optimizing operating costs, and ensuring transparent supervision of the facility’s functioning.
The team paid special attention to user comfort and safety. The business center features concealed utility installations, integrated engineering and security systems, as well as contemporary meeting and conference spaces. Another crucial component of the project was the technological infrastructure of the shelter designed to accommodate up to 500 people at the same time.
“Our task was to create an engineering infrastructure operating as a single system and ensuring the sustainability of the customer’s business processes. What matters in such projects is not only the technical expertise but also the ability to see a facility comprehensively as a unified ecosystem,” Vitalii Rozdobutko, CEO of Compass Engineering, stated.
According to Vasyl Metvieiev, the Director of the Engineering Infrastructure Department at Compass Engineering, modern engineering has long moved beyond the traditional approach to building technical systems. “Today’s engineering infrastructure is the foundation for sustainable business operations, efficient facility management, and the facility’s readiness to meet new challenges.”
Technology partners also highly appreciated the level of cooperation during the project’s implementation.
“Modern commercial property requires comprehensive engineering solutions ensuring business continuity and the predictable operation of the entire infrastructure. In this project, we can see an example of the high-quality integration of Schneider Electric technologies and the deep expertise of the Compass Engineering team that accompanied all turnkey work,” Mykhailo Bubnov, CEO of Schneider Electric in Ukraine, said.
As a result of the project, the new business center in Podil now features a contemporaryengineering infrastructure ensuring a high level of reliability, energy efficiency, comfort, and safety.
This case illustrates how a comprehensive engineering approach, a strong team, and advanced technology allow creating new-generation spaces even within extremely strict deadlines.
